HAKKINDA
Alican Topaloğlu is a PhD student in the Molecular Biology - Genetics and Biotechnology Program and also serves as a Research Assistant in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. He has been affiliated with Istanbul Technical University since 2017.
Alican’s research focuses on evolutionary engineering of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the challenge-driven elucidation of molecular mechanisms underlying stress resistance. In particular, he is interested in antimycin A resistance in S. cerevisiae and the regulatory role of the PDR1 gene. He also applies state-of-the-art genome engineering approaches, including CRISPR-Cas9, to study the functional impact of specific genomic alterations in yeast.
