I was born in Şanlıurfa, Turkey, in 1969, and began my academic journey with a B.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Middle East Technical University in 1991. In 1993, I was awarded a national scholarship by the Higher Education Council of Turkey, which enabled me to pursue graduate studies in the United States. I earned my M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1996, followed by a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering and Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2000. My academic career began at Harran University, where I worked in the Department of Physics until 2016. I then served as a professor of Biomedical Engineering at Akdeniz University until 2023. Since 2023, I have been a professor in the Department of Computational Science and Engineering at Istanbul Technical University's Informatics Institute.
