ABOUT ME
Conducting research on data mining, web mining, recommendation systems, social network analysis, big data analysis, community detection in social networks, classification in heterogeneous complex networks, demand forecasting and financial forecasting, Prof. Öğüdücü has been working as the department chair of ITU Computer Engineering since 2019.
Prof. Öğüdücü was awarded with Siemens Excellence Award in 2004 and is known in international literature with scientific outputs in the field of suggestion systems and analysis of social networks. In 2010, she founded the IEEE Turkey WIE Affinity Group.
Academic Career
Prof. Öğüdücü completed her bachelor’s degree in ITU Electronics and Communication, master’s degree in Boğaziçi University Biomedical Engineering and doctoral studies in ITU Computer Engineering. During her PhD studies, Öğüdücü worked as a researcher at the University of Waterloo Database Laboratory between 2001-2003, with research grants from the Canadian Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Tinçel Foundation. In the field of system recommendations, Prof. Öğüdücü is listed 27th in Google Scholar in the world is 1st in Turkey.
Projects
Professor Öğüdücü carries out a TÜBİTAK project that attempts to develop a reciprocal recommendation system with deep learning methods for candidate and job posting platforms. Another important project that Prof. Öğüdücü collaborates is “Creating Infrastructure for Turkey's Artificial Intelligence Technology for Development Priority Areas Scientific Studies and Pre-Launch” project, with the budget of about 1 million TL. In addition to projects conducted with TÜBİTAK and ITU Research Fund, Professor Öğüdücü has many sectoral collaborations. Prof. Öğüdücü has also been involved in projects as a consultant in the fields of proposal models, financial analysis, dynamic pricing, scaling of real-time systems with machine learning methods with the private sector.
