Safety is of utmost importance in maritime transportation. Therefore, the maritime regulatory bodies adopted a wide range of codes and conventions to improve safety level at sea. One of the most significant conventions related to the safety is "The International Convention on Seafarers' Training, Certification and Watch keeping Standards (STCW)" which was enforced by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1978 to ensure that all seafarers meet a certain minimum level of training. A high level of safety standarts are required to safe and efficient maritime operations. Therefore, the seafrers are need to be well trained not only in theoretical but also practical way. STCW certification are created to promote safety of life and property at sea and to protect the marine environment. It establishes internationally accepted standards of training and certification of seafarers, ensuring that crew/seafarer are qualified and fit for duties at sea. In this context, the objectives of the MarSaT project is to strengthen ability and capacity implementation of maritime safety trainings (personal survival techniques, firefighting and fire prevention, personal safety and social responsibilities) for maritime high school students and maritime faculty students as well as lecturers. The MarSaT project has two aspects; main aspect is to ensure that seafarers working onboard had the basic safety skills and knowledge in order to provide a safe working condition and respond to emergency situations and conditions.

Bu projenin araştırma planı, müsilajın gemi makineleri ve gemiye etkisi en aza indirilerek, halihazırda diğer pek çok riski barındıran Marmara bölgesi için emniyet unsuru geliştirilebilir kuramsal yaklaşımı üzerine kurulmuştur. Bu doğrultuda oluşturulan proje ekibi araştırmanın teorik ve uygulama safhalarındaki gereksinimlere cevap verebilecek nitelikte disiplinlerarası üretken ve dinamik bir araştırma grubudur.

İstanbul Boğazı kuzey bölgesi için gemilerden kaynaklı deniz kirliliğini algılama, takip ve analiz sisteminin kurulması, bu kapsamda sistemin 3. köprü (Y Sultan Selim) güzergahına uygulanması.

The main objective of the project is to design web-based e-learning/training platform for seafarers and maritime doctors that focuses on advanced medical intervention practices on-board ship.

The MarEd project developed two output online training module and online assessment modul to train and acquire qualification for all marine staffs in different level of job including both on board personnel such as ship captains, chief engineers, officers and etc. and energy efficiency dedicated staff in shipping companies such as superintendents, fleet managers, energy managers and etc. by a distance learning course that provides modules to teach and understand the implementation of energy efficiency policies and practices. The project focuses on energy efficiency constraints and increasing the current level of awareness about energy efficiency
