Course timetabling has received much attention in the literature over the years Each university has specific constraints rules and objective function Therefore studies in the literature cannot be adapted to our course scheduling problem which motivates us to conduct this research The course timetabling problem involves assigning predetermined courses to available timeslots and classrooms The aim of this study is to develop a mathematical model to assign the courses of each department to the propose timeslots for a week We validate our model using the data collected from the university show that our model is tractable in practice and can be solved in a reasonable amount of time

Making the decision to circumcision surgery procedure under different types of anesthesia methods is a decision making problem which involves multiple and conflicting criteria Evaluation of anesthesia methods in circumcision surgery requires linguistic terms to be used rather than exact numerical assignments The fuzzy set theory offers a useful tool for transforming linguistic terms into numerical assessments In this study we try to select the best circumcision surgery procedure taking care of the predetermined criteria by using fuzzy analytic hierarchy process AHP Our multi criteria decision model evaluates three possible anesthesia methods including local anesthesia general anesthesia with and without penile block A sensitivity analysis based on different scenarios of experts preference is also provided

In the air transport industry reducing carbon emissions and increasing sustainable practices can be costly Airlines are under pressure to be more effective and this research is set to revolutionise plane scheduling in order to cut costs The research project investigates how airlines can save money and burn less fuel by being more efficient in the way they schedule their planes and crews on routes around the world and focuses on the management of aircrew through joint fleet assignment and crew pairing Publicly available European aviation data is used to develop an algorithm that works out the most efficient way aircrews and flight schedules can be managed without affecting the number of passengers flying and applying it to real life situations

Motivated by an energy dependent ecology aware global economy where the airspaceis becoming increasingly congested this project investigates integrated modeling andefficient optimization approaches for aircraft sequencing operations in airport terminalareas The research addresses a pressing need expressed by the airline industry andby legislators for designing enhanced air traffic control policies to reduce the multibillion dollar flight delays that are observed annually worldwide This project is alsomotivated by the imminent transition in 2013 from Doha International Airport DOH with a single runway to Hamad International Airport HIA with parallel independentrunways The contributions of this project include i an empirical study of runwaycapacity management for Doha International Airport ii optimization models andsolution techniques for single and multiple runway aircraft sequencing problems iii development of effective and robust metaheuristics for this class of problems and iv preliminary investigation of aircraft rescheduling under disruptions using bothoptimization based techniques and metaheurstics
