ABOUT ME
Faculty member of the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Computer and Informatics, Dr. Tantuğ works in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Learning (Machine Learning), Deep Learning (Deep Learning), Natural Language Processing and Financial Artificial Intelligence. Tantuğ is among the founders of ITU Natural Language Processing Group and still continues to work in this group.
Akademic Carreer
Dr. Tantuğ received his undergraduate degree from the Control and Computer Engineering Department, where he graduated ranking first in 2000, received his master’s degree in 2002 and his doctorate in 2007 from ITU Computer Engineering Department. Dr. Tantuğ worked as a guest researcher in the Language Technologies Center of the University of Copenhagen between 2006-2007. Dr. Tantuğ was awarded the Bedri Karafakioğlu Special Award in 2000 and the Siemens Excellence Award in 2007.
Dr. Tantuğ, who served as an assistant professor at ITU Computer Engineering Department between 2010-2017. Also served as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Informatics between 2011-2015 and has been working as an Associate Professor at the same faculty since 2017. At the same time, since 2012, Tantuğ has been serving as the Head of IT Department, responsible for all IT infrastructure and new information technology projects of Istanbul Technical University.
Projects
Dr. Tantuğ has worked as coordinator and researcher in many projects supported by the Ministry of Development, TÜBİTAK and the European Union. He has worked as a consultant in many private sector projects in different sectors such as; banking, software and telecommunications. On the other hand, Tantuğ carries out refereeing and monitoring duties within the scope of R&D Incentives in the framework of TÜBİTAK, TEYDEB and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
