My research area covers mostly robotics and automotive technology such as; autonomous/semi-autonomous ground vehicles, mobile robots, personal transportation, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), automated guided vehicles (AGV), control of hybrid electric vehicles, trajectory planning, obstacle/collision avoidance, active safety in road vehicles, machine learning, control of hybrid electric vehicles and energy efficiency. I have been giving lectures on automatic control, mechatronics system design, mechatronic system components, vehicle dynamics and control for both undergraduate and graduate students. My research team completed several projects which were funded by Tubitak and Istanbul Technical University, successfully. I am actively working on a Tubitak-1001 research project entitled as “Development of Autonomous Personal Transportation Algorithms and Their Application to the Wheelchair Platform” as Principle Investigator, which will be active until March 2021. I have been providing consultancy to several companies about autonomous driving, AGVs and energy management of vehicles.
