My research focuses on robotics and automotive technology; particularly in areas such as autonomous and semi-autonomous ground vehicles, mobile robots, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), automated guided vehicles (AGV), mission/behaviour/local planning, obstacle and collision avoidance, and active safety systems for road vehicles. Additionally, I have expertise in machine learning and the control of hybrid electric vehicles. In addition to my research, I am actively involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on automatic control, mechatronics system design, components of mechatronic systems, and vehicle dynamics and control. My research team has successfully completed several projects funded by Tubitak and Istanbul Technical University. Currently, I am leading a project titled "Development and Implementation of Advanced Autonomous Driving Algorithms for Autonomous Mobility," funded by Tubitak (1001), which is set to continue until September 2024. I am also the director of the Smart and Autonomous Laboratory (SASLAB). Furthermore, I provide consultancy services to various companies on topics related to autonomous driving, AGVs, and vehicle energy management.
